Drawing up of the “East Asia 30” from an Asian perspective:
A China-Japan-Korea partnership has delivered its first “East Asia 30”, the list of top performers based on its joint CSR evaluation model.
Ten experts on corporate social responsibility from China, Japan and South Korea landed at Incheon In-ternational Airport on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Their mission was to hold meetings to finalize an Asia CSR assessment model which would be required in order to determine the “East Asia 30”, a list of top CSR businesses in the three countries. This was the very first meeting held by the Asia CSR Expert Committee (under Chairperson Ju Chul-ki).
Heated debate ensued over the two days of the weekend. All CSR indices considered as international standards including the United Nations Global Compact’s Ten Principles, ISO 26000, and Global Report-ing Initiative Guidelines were put on the table. Other topics relevant to each country’s CSR environment were also covered.
These were eventually incorporated into a single CSR measurement model for East Asia – and the re-gion’s first joint CSR measuring framework was born.
